Building the title type for my Station Zero Poster Project and listening to nothing but ’70s heavy psych records. Letting the WickedBad Flag fly with custom carpeted vans, fantasy epics and fuzzed out jams.
Pushing Robert E. Howard’s brutal barbarian love story through the ’80s cheese grater between my ears like a Fuzzy Pumper Barber Shop on speed.
Soundtrack: Lucifer’s Friend, Atomic Rooster, Mogul Thrash, J.C. Heavy, Iron Claw, Toad, and Deep Purple’s Machine Head, Fireball and BURN.

Station Zero | Light Grey Art Lab | ALMURIC Robert E. Howard
When Esau Cairn was sent across space to the demon-haunted planet of Almuric, he knew nothing of his destination. It was a world of strange and terrible beings, of savages and swordsmen, of winged monsters and incredible secrets…
The kids at Light Grey Art Lab mailed a bunch of classic sci-fi paperbacks from the past (1950’s – 1970’s) to artists and designers to have them re-imagined for the the future– WHICH IS NOW.
What a great idea for a gallery poster show, right? I got Almuric, Robert E. Howard’s interplanetary epic of sword and sorcery. (So yeah, no pressure there)
Anyway, LGAL really have their shit together and this is gonna be a super rad show– excited to get started! For more info on the Station Zero show—> CLICK IN THIS GENERAL AREA.
Though released in 1984, I didn’t hear Dreamtime until 1986. ( Love was released in ’85 ) This record haunted me then and still does today. Tried to keep the era’s wacky color schemes alive in this tribute poster.
Bootleg gig poster discovering new roads for old ghosts.
Love their new cosmic record, Warp Riders, but listening to Gods of the Earth makes me want to draw battle-grizzled vikings in the snow.
This image now available as a print entitled, “The Long Winter.”
I like to think up shows that never happened and then make gig posters for them. Click pic to go to Imaginary Music Land.
